OBITUARY: William Holmes, worked for Shaw’s devoted father and grandfater

William H Holmes Jr. of Middleborough died unexpectedly October 8 after a brief illness.

He was the husband of the late Janet (Birnie) Holmes for 35 years and companion to the late Sandra DiBona for the past several years. He was the loving father of Robin Holmes of Middleborough and her late companion Steve Brady, John Holmes of Plymouth and his wife Lauren (Fralick). He was a devoted grandfather of Joshua Holmes and step-grandfather of Cristin, Andrew, Alex, Sarah and Nick Chichetto. He was the loving brother of Helen (Pat) Holmes, Leonard Holmes and his husband Robert Leach, Theresa Nichols and her husband Al, Adrienne Whiting, Elmer Holmes and his wife Dedra, and the late Rosellen Hopkins. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.

He was the son of the late William Sr. and Helen G (Cuddy) Holmes. He was an employee of Shaw’s Supermarkets until his retirement in 1997. He was a member of the Bertocci Memorial Club in Brockton.

A memorial service will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, on Saturday October 27 from 1 to 4 p.m.. His ashes will be buried in Dry Pond Cemetery in Stoughton at a later date.
