A Manomet man was arrested for drunk driving after allegedly hitting a telephone pole on State Road late Tuesday night.
According to Capt. John Rogers, a patrolman was monitoring traffic at Four Corners when he heard a loud banging and scraping. He reportedly found a truck parked haphazardly in the parking lot of 7-Eleven. The driver, Stephen Hackett, 32, of Seaview Drive was, Rogers said, sitting in the vehicle, smoking a cigarette. He was also allegedly intoxicated, based on the officer’s investigation.
Hackett was charged with operating under the influence (second offense) and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
